Get to know Psychiatrist Dr. Catharine Buttinger Fedeli, who serves patients in New York, New York.

Dr. Fedeli is a highly trained psychiatrist who, since 1990, has been in private practice in New York City, New York. She provides evaluation and treatment of eating disorders; mood disorders (depression, bi-polar disorder); obsessive-compulsive disorder; anxiety disorders; post-traumatic stress disorder; attention deficit disorder; as well as difficulties related to school/work performance and relationship issues.

The treatments include various forms of psychotherapy (insight oriented, supportive, interpersonal), cognitive behavioural therapy, and psychopharmacology. They are adapted according to the unique needs of each specific patient, depending on the problem, the treatment goals, and the person’s expectations and motivation.

Back in 1980, Dr. Fedeli graduated with her medical degree from the medical faculty of the Ruprecht Karl University of Heidelberg in Germany. Upon graduation, she relocated to the United States, completing her psychiatric training at Columbia University Vagelos College of Physicians and Surgeons, NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital, and the New York State Psychiatric Institute. She then completed a two-year fellowship in eating disorders and psychopharmacology at Columbia University/New York State Psychiatric Institute.

An expert in his field, she is board-certified in psychiatry by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology (ABPN). The ABPN is a not-for-profit corporation dedicated to serving the professions of psychiatry and neurology.

Continuously advancing her efforts, Dr. Fedeli is an active member of the American Medical Association and the American Psychiatric Association. 

Psychiatry is the medical specialty devoted to the diagnosis, prevention, and treatment of mental disorders. These include various maladaptations related to mood, behavior, cognition, and perceptions. Psychiatrists evaluate, diagnose, and treat patients with mental, emotional, and behavioral disorders. They conduct thorough psychiatric evaluations, develop treatment plans, prescribe medication, and evaluate treatment results.

On a more personal note, Dr. Fedeli is fluent in both English and German.
