Get to know Neurologist Dr. Nirali D. Soni, who serves patients in Fredericksburg, Virginia.

Dr. Soni is a board-certified neurologist with an interest in treating a wide range of neurologic ailments. At present, she practices at Mary Washington Hospital in Fredericksburg, Virginia, where she is a member of the provider advisory council.

As a clinician, her priorities are patient care and patient safety.  She is fellowship trained in epilepsy and has an interest in treating new-onset and complex epilepsy cases.  She has also treated hundreds of headache patients and has expertise in Botox treatment for migraines and other emerging therapies.

Dr. Soni was involved in epilepsy research at SUNY Downstate while completing medical school.  Dr. Soni earned her medical degree from the American University of Antigua in 2012.  She completed her internship and residency in neurology at the University of Arizona, followed by her fellowship in epilepsy at Banner University, under the training of esteemed Dr. David Labiner.

A junior member of the American Academy of Neurology, she is board-certified in neurology by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology (ABPN). The ABPN is a not-for-profit corporation dedicated to promoting high-quality patient care for the public through the initial and continuing certification of psychiatrists and neurologists.

With extensive education and experience in neurology, Dr. Soni provides sound clinical assessment and recommendations of appropriate treatment for patients suffering from various neurological conditions. She has participated in multiple research ventures, including studies related to sleep apnea in patients with epilepsy, effects of adjunctive lacosamide on mood states, and quality of life for epileptic patients.

Neurology is a branch of medicine dealing with disorders of the nervous system. Neurologists are licensed medical specialists who diagnose and treat disorders that affect the brain, spinal cord, nerves, and muscles of patients. They examine a patient’s mental and physical status, conduct medical tests and scans, and evaluate the results to diagnose and treat the patient.

On a more personal note, Dr. Soni speaks multiple languages, including English, Gujarati, and Hindi.  She and her husband are parents to a precious golden retriever named Pogo.
