Get to know General Surgeon Dr. Michael Albrecht, who serves patients in Texas.

Dr. Albrecht is a highly trained general surgeon utilizing the robotic da Vinci Surgery for a minimally invasive approach. He is well-versed in the surgical management of complex medical cases, and has a passion for helping patients affected by burns. 

Offering his services at STAT Surgical, he sees patients in San Antonio and Schertz, Texas. He  sees patients for surgery consultations, as well as other common and specialized reasons.

In affiliation with several hospitals, Dr. Albrecht collaborates with North Central Baptist Hospital, Northeast Baptist Hospital, Northeast Methodist Hospital, and Methodist Stone Oak Hospital.

The doctor’s acclaimed career in medicine began after he earned his medical degree from the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine. He then went on to perform his residency at Brooke Army Medical Center in Fort Sam Houston, followed by his fellowship in burn surgery in the U.S. Army Institute of Surgical Research.

With an unwavering commitment to his speciality, Dr. Albrecht is board-certified in general surgery by the American Board of Surgery (ABS). The ABS is an independent, non-profit organization located in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, founded for the purpose of certifying surgeons who have met a defined standard of education, training, and knowledge. 

Holding membership status with a number of professional organizations, he is a member of the American Burn Association, the American College of Surgeons (Fellow – FACS), the Bexar County Medical Society, the San Antonio Critical Care Society, the Texas Medical Association, and the Society of Critical Care Medicine – Texas Chapter.

General surgery is a surgical specialty that focuses on abdominal contents including the esophagus, stomach, small bowel, colon, liver, pancreas, gallbladder, appendix and bile ducts, and often the thyroid gland. A general surgeon performs a wide range of abdominal surgeries for many forms of intestinal and abdominal wall neoplasms, gallbladder disease, gastric and pancreatic disease. They follow the patient through critical care and surgical recovery all the way to outpatient care. 

In honor of his clinical expertise, Dr. Albrecht has been the recipient of a number of awards and honors.
