Get to know Interventional Cardiologist Dr. Thanh T. Nguyen, who serves patients in Simi Valley, California.

Dr. Nguyen is an interventional cardiologist who affiliated with Adventist Health Simi Valley in California. Dr. Nguyen earned his Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine degree from Western University of Health Sciences. He then went on to complete his internship in internal medicine at the Cleveland Clinic, followed by his fellowship in cardiovascular disease at the University of California, Davis and his fellowship in interventional cardiology at William Beaumont Hospital.

Dr. Nguyen is board certified in interventional cardiology and cardiovascular disease by the American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM). The ABIM is a physician-led, non-profit, independent evaluation organization driven by doctors who want to achieve higher standards for better care in a rapidly changing world. Dr. Nguyen is a Fellow of the American College of Cardiology. 

Interventional cardiology is a branch of cardiology that deals specifically with the catheter-based treatment of structural heart diseases. The main advantages of using this approach include the avoidance of scars and pain, and long post-operative recovery. An interventional cardiologist is a cardiologist with one to two years of additional education and training in diagnosing and treating cardiovascular disease, as well as congenital (present at birth) and structural heart conditions through catheter-based procedures, such as angioplasty and stenting.
