Throughout her academic career, Dr. Heir received her Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) degree from the University of Detroit Mercy. She then went on to earn her Master’s degree in Orthodontics from Columbia University.
To date, she remains a member of the American Association of Orthodontists, which is the American professional association for orthodontists representing 19,000 members throughout the United States, Canada, and abroad.
Orthodontics and dentofacial orthopedics, formerly referred to as orthodontia, is a specialty of dentistry that deals with the diagnosis, prevention, and correction of malpositioned teeth and jaws. The field was established by such pioneering orthodontists as Edward Angle and Norman William Kingsley. As an orthodontist, Dr. Heir is responsible for locating problems with the positioning of patients’ teeth and their oral development. She is able to identify alignment issues that should be adjusted in order to maximize bite comfort, balance, and cosmetics.
In her personal life, Dr. Heir is a mother of two boys. Outside of the office, she likes to cook, do yoga, and watch Netflix.
