Get to know Orthodontist Dr. Nimrat Heir, who serves patients in Elk Grove, California. 

With over 15 years of experience, Dr. Heir is an orthodontist who truly respects and loves what she does. She has vast expertise in treating orthodontic cases ranging from mild to severe malocclusions requiring jaw surgery. Providing comprehensive treatment for patients of all ages, she uses full-service orthodontics through both traditional oral appliances and discreet modern aligners. Her youngest patient is 5 years old and her oldest patient is 68 years old. 

Currently, Dr. Heir is serving patients’ dental needs at Laguna Palms Orthodontics in Elk Grove, California. There, she and her team of professionals remain committed to providing orthodontic services that help patients to achieve their smile goals. The services offered at Laguna Palms Orthodontics include traditional braces, clear braces, retainers, sleep apnea appliances, and early orthodontic care. 

If patients come into her dental practice for aesthetic corrections to their smiles, Dr. Heir provides them with a full understanding of what comprehensive orthodontic care can do for their oral health. However, if they choose to only correct a certain aspect of their smile, she does not press treatment and merely assists them in achieving their ideal aesthetic.

Having had braces herself as an adult, Dr. Heir understands the anxiety and challenges associated with orthodontic treatment, which is why she is committed to making it a gentle smooth experience for both children and adults. She understands that each person is unique and works on creating an individualized treatment for each and every one of her patients. 

Throughout her academic career, Dr. Heir received her Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) degree from the University of Detroit Mercy. She then went on to earn her Master’s degree in Orthodontics from Columbia University.

To date, she remains a member of the American Association of Orthodontists, which is the American professional association for orthodontists representing 19,000 members throughout the United States, Canada, and abroad.

Orthodontics and dentofacial orthopedics, formerly referred to as orthodontia, is a specialty of dentistry that deals with the diagnosis, prevention, and correction of malpositioned teeth and jaws. The field was established by such pioneering orthodontists as Edward Angle and Norman William Kingsley. As an orthodontist, Dr. Heir is responsible for locating problems with the positioning of patients’ teeth and their oral development. She is able to identify alignment issues that should be adjusted in order to maximize bite comfort, balance, and cosmetics.

In her personal life, Dr. Heir is a mother of two boys. Outside of the office, she likes to cook, do yoga, and watch Netflix.
