A seasoned ophthalmologist, Dr. Fichte is the founding partner of Fichte, Endl & Elmer Eyecare, with a lifelong interest in cataract & laser eye surgery.

The mission of Fichte, Endl & Elmer Eyecare is patients’ vision, and they strive to provide top-notch eyecare care in a comfortable, professional atmosphere. The eye doctors and staff at both their Amherst and Niagara Falls locations are experts in their field. They are trained in the latest techniques and procedures. Back in 1974, Dr. Fichte earned his medical degree from the Albert Einstein College of Medicine. He completed his internship at the Lincoln Medical and Mental Health Center in 1975, and completed his residency in ophthalmology at the Montefiore Medical Center in 1978.

An FDA clinical trial investigator for the original diffractive multifocal intraocular lens studies, he then studied laser eye surgery in Berlin, Germany. Subsequently, he co-founded the Ultra-lase Refractive Laser Eye Centers in England. Upon FDA approval in the United States, he was the first to perform PRK and Lasik surgery in upstate New York and has performed countless thousands of laser eye surgeries.

With an unwavering commitment to his specialty, the doctor is board-certified in ophthalmology by the American Board of Ophthalmology, an independent, non-profit organization responsible for certifying ophthalmologists in the United States of America.

In his professional experience, Dr. Fichte has been a speaker at numerous international and national eye meetings and co-authored numerous papers in peer-reviewed ophthalmic journals and books. His current interests include alternative strategies to prevent future eye disease presentation and progression.

Ophthalmology is a branch of medicine and surgery, which deals with the diagnosis and treatment of eye disorders. Ophthalmologists are experts in the diseases, functions, and anatomy of the eye.
