A trusted ophthalmologist, Dr. Roh has been affiliated with South Coast Retina Center since 2006, seeing patients at their offices in Torrance, Long Beach, and Huntington Beach, California. He provides care for patients with a wide variety of conditions, including diabetic retinopathy, macular degeneration, macular pucker, macular hole, retinal detachment, retinal vascular occlusions, among many other retinal conditions.

Founded in 1972, South Coast Retina Center has been preserving and preventing visual loss in Southern California for more than 45 years. Their physicians and staff are dedicated to treating each patient with respect and compassion. They understand that each patient is different and they pride themselves on spending time with patients and their family members explaining, counseling and educating them regarding sight threatening conditions.

Throughout his academic career, Dr. Roh graduated with Cum Laude honors from Duke University where he majored in Biology and minored in East Asian Studies. He was awarded the prestigious Sirena WuDunn Memorial Scholarship for his academic excellence and for his contributions to the Asian Pacific Studies Institute at Duke University. He then earned his medical degree from the Ohio State University College of Medicine with Honors and was in the top 10th percentile of his graduating class in grade point average and on his USMLE Board scores. 

Subsequently, he completed a preliminary internal medicine year at Evanston Northwestern Hospital, and then completed his residency in ophthalmology at George Washington University, where he served as Chief Resident. During his residency, he published his work in the Journal of Oculoplastics and Reconstructive Surgery and presented this material at an international conference in Gothenburg, Sweden in 2003.

Finally, Dr. Roh received his fellowship training in Birmingham, Alabama where he completed a clinical fellowship in vitreo-retinal surgery with the Retina Specialists of Alabama and through the University of Alabama, Birmingham. He also completed a research fellowship sponsored by the Helen Keller Foundation for Research and Education and the American Society of Ocular Trauma. In 2005, he lectured throughout China as a representative of the Helen Keller Foundation.

An authority in his field, the doctor is board-certified in ophthalmology by the American Board of Ophthalmology, an independent, non-profit organization responsible for certifying ophthalmologists in the United States of America.

Remaining up to date in his field, he is an active member of the American Medical Association, the Los Angeles County Medical Association, the American Academy of Ophthalmology, the Orange County Society of Ophthalmology, and the American Society of Retina Specialists.

In his professional experience, Dr. Roh served as Vice-Chairman and then Chairman of the Department of Ophthalmology at Long Beach Memorial Medical Center from 2010 through 2013. He has also volunteered his surgical expertise in Honduras and looks forward to planning and devoting more of his time to these endeavors in the future.
