Get to know Diagnostic Radiologist Dr. Ankur B. Patel, who serves patients in Texas.

Specializing in musculoskeletal radiology, Dr. Patel is a fellowship-trained diagnostic radiologist at Diagnostic Outpatient Imaging.

“My goal is not only to provide the best quality imaging interpretations in El Paso and the surrounding communities; but also to serve as a resource to referring physicians, while creating a welcoming environment for patients” expressed the doctor. 

Striving to provide the ultimate in patient experience, Diagnostic Outpatient Imaging are state-of-the-art radiology centers of excellence in El Paso, Texas. They are the only centers of their kind in El Paso – owned and operated by a radiologist. The medical staff believe in treating patients the way they would treat their family and they will do their best to ensure that they have a great experience at the clinic. In regards to his educational background, Dr. Patel graduated with his undergraduate degree from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. He then went on to earn his medical degree from Rush Medical College. Upon graduation, he performed his residency at Rush University Medical Center, and his fellowship at NorthShore University HealthSystem – University of Chicago Medicine.

Following his training, he attained board certification in diagnostic radiology through the American Board of Radiology (ABR). The ABR is a not-for-profit physician-led organization that oversees the certification and ongoing professional development of specialists in diagnostic radiology, interventional radiology, radiation oncology, and medical physics.

In good standing with a number of professional organizations, Dr. Patel is a member of the American College of Radiology.

He served as President of the American College of Radiology, State Chapter/Chicago Radiological Society – Residents & Fellow Section (2013 – 2014); Vice President of the Chicago Radiological Society – Residents & Fellow Section (2012 – 2013); and Program Director of the Chicago Radiological Society – Residents & Fellow Section (2011 – 2012).

Diagnostic radiology refers to the field of medicine that uses non-invasive imaging scans to diagnose a patient. A diagnostic radiologist is a physician who uses imaging methodologies to diagnose and manage patients and provide therapeutic options. 

On a more personal note, Dr. Patel speaks multiple languages, including English, Gujarati, and Spanish.
