He completed his residency in general surgery at the Michigan State University College of Osteopathic Medicine in 2010, followed by his residency at Texas Heart Institute in 2013.

A Fellow of the American College of Osteopathic Surgeons, the doctor is board-certified through the American Osteopathic Board of Surgery, which is an organization that provides board certification to qualified Doctors of Osteopathic Medicine who specialize in the use of surgery to aid in the diagnosis and treatment of disease. 

Dedicated to clinical excellence, Dr. Bezzina remains affiliated with several medical centers and hospitals in his local area, including MercyOne Dubuque Medical Center and UnityPoint – Finley Hospital. He additionally performs a full array of peripheral vascular surgery including dialysis access. With a special interest in aortic aneurysms and patient blood management, he also founded the patient blood management (PBM), and transcathter aortic valve replacment (TAVR) programs in Dubuque.
