Shaping the Landscape of Healthcare in Alabama and Beyond

Dr. Christopher McGee has been a cornerstone of MedCenter's and ExperCare’s commitment to delivering outstanding healthcare and occupational health services since 2002. With a passion for providing compassionate care, he ensures that patients receive top-notch medical attention from experienced physicians, nurse practitioners, and a dedicated staff.

His journey in the medical field began in the Emergency Department at DCH Regional Medical Center, Tuscaloosa, Alabama in 1994. While working in the ED, Dr. McGee realized a need for a place that non-critical patients could go for quality care that would be an alternative to the Emergency Department.  His vision for accessible healthcare led to the opening of Tuscaloosa MedCenter South in 2002, followed by Medcenter North in 2006, and MedCenter Demopolis in 2011. Other additions included MedCenter Hoover and MedCenter Fayette. Initially these facilities were for urgent care visits only. However, Dr. McGee realized another need for the community was additional access to Primary Care, so this service was added with the opening of Medcenter Primary Care.

These facilities stand as testaments to his unwavering dedication to expanding quality healthcare services across Alabama  and now even into other states. In April of 2024, Dr. McGee partnered with a growing company out of Savannah, Georgia, called ExperCARE. ExperCare was founded in 2009 by Catherine Grant (CEO) and currently has seven locations in the Savannah area. ExperCARE was a natural fit with MedCenter due to the shared vision of an accessible network of clinics providing an array of services, including urgent care and family medicine. Dr. McGee is now Medical Director for ExperCare’s Alabama operations and still practices medicine across the clinics.

Born in Scottsboro, Alabama, and raised in Section, Dr. McGee's roots run deep in the heart of the state. His academic journey includes graduating from the University of Alabama in Huntsville in 1986 and the University of Alabama School of Medicine in 1991. Following this, he pursued a residency in family medicine at the University of Alabama-Tuscaloosa, completing his training in 1994. His commitment to excellence is evident in his dual board certifications in family medicine and emergency medicine, showcasing his versatility and expertise in diverse medical fields.

Continuously advancing his efforts, he is an active member of the American College of Emergency Physicians, the American Academy of Family Physicians, the Urgent Care Association of America, and the American Medical Association
