Dr. Vives, a dedicated neurosurgeon, is a valued member of the medical team at Neurosurgery and Spine Specialists in Sarasota, Florida. 

Committed to achieving optimal outcomes for his patients, he specializes in general neurosurgery, including brain and spinal surgery. Additionally, Dr. Vives focuses on stereotactic and functional neurosurgery, specializing in surgeries related to Parkinson’s disease and epilepsy.

Joining Neurosurgery and Spine Specialists, Dr. Vives brings with him a wealth of experience gained from a distinguished education at Yale University School of Medicine. During his tenure at Yale, he maintained a comprehensive general neurosurgery practice at Yale-New Haven Hospital in New Haven. Over a decade, he dedicated his expertise to the Sections of Epilepsy and Spine at Yale-New Haven Hospital. Furthermore, he assumed key roles, including Director of the Section of Stereotactic and Functional Neurosurgery, Associate Residency Program Director, and Director of Neurotrauma at Yale University School of Medicine.

Passionate about his profession, Dr. Vives is a Diplomate of the American Board of Neurological Surgery (ABNS). The broad aim of the ABNS is to encourage the study, improve the practice, elevate the standards, and advance the science of neurological surgery and thereby serve the cause of public health.

In addition to being a Fellow of the American Association of Neurological Surgeons (FAANS) and a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons (FACS), Dr. Vives is a member of the Congress of Neurological Surgeons, the American Society of Stereotactic and Functional Neurosurgeons, the American Epilepsy Society, the Sarasota County Medical Society, and the World Society for Stereotactic and Functional Neurosurgery.
