He went on to earn his medical degree from Finch University of Health Sciences/The Chicago Medical School in 1999. Dr. Abusharif's extensive medical training includes a General Surgery Residency at Nassau County Medical Center in East Meadow, NY, and St. Joseph's Hospital in Chicago, IL. He furthered his expertise with an Anesthesiology Residency at the University of Illinois in Chicago, followed by a Pain Management Fellowship at the same institution.
Dr. Abusharif maintains affiliations with several esteemed medical facilities, including the Preferred Surgery Center in Orland Park, IL, Silver Cross Hospital in New Lenox, IL, and the Center for Minimally Invasive Spine Surgery in Mokena, IL. Additionally, he serves as a clinical preceptor for third and fourth-year medical students and a guest lecturer for anesthesia/pain management at Midwestern University Medical School. As an active member of various professional organizations, including the American Medical Association, the Illinois State Medical Society, the Chicago Medical Society, the American Society of Anesthesiologists, and the American Academy of Pain Medicine, Dr. Abusharif remains committed to advancing his field. He has also contributed to scientific research, participating in studies such as Vascular Research at the University of Chicago and investigating the absence of Substance P and CGRP in Naked Mole-Rats, which alters their response to noxious stimuli.
