A seasoned internist, Dr. Joseph is the Founder, Chairman, and CEO of Central Virginia Coalition of Healthcare Providers, LLC. Passionate about healthcare and the role of independent physicians in the delivery of healthcare, she believes that the physician-patient relationship is a sacred trust and can best be preserved by well-trained, well-informed, compassionate and dedicated physicians.

Central Virginia Coalition of Healthcare Providers, LLC (CVCHIP) is an Accountable Care Organization that promotes accessible, high quality and affordable care to seniors through a network of primary care physicians, specialists and other professionals. Their mission is to improve the overall health outcomes of the patients it serves through its network of doctors and other career medical professionals.

With a broad educational background, Dr. Joseph graduated with her medical degree from the Wake Forest University School of Medicine. She completed her residency in internal medicine at the Howard University School of Medicine, under the leadership of Dr. John Townsend, where she served as Chief Resident of Medicine.

Following her training, the doctor attained board certification in internal medicine through the American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM). The ABIM is a physician-led, non-profit, independent evaluation organization driven by doctors who want to achieve higher standards for better care in a rapidly changing world.

In order to advance quality and equitable health care delivery, she has served in multiple leadership positions. She is a Past President of the Richmond Medical Society, and a Past President of the Old Dominion Medical Society, a state-wide organization. She has also served on the Board of Directors of the Richmond Community Hospital and the Bon Secours Health System Board.

Professionally, Dr. Joseph’s career has been hallmarked by her concern for the practice of quality healthcare and service to communities of disparity.  Her first employment was in the city of Detroit, where she worked in a community clinic with one of the nation’s first Medicaid HMO’s, Total Health Care. For the past 34 years, she has also worked in her private practice – Charles City Medical Group – seeing patients in urban and rural settings.

Internal medicine is the medical specialty dealing with the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of adult diseases. Physicians specializing in internal medicine are called internists. They manage and prevent common and complex diseases by providing comprehensive care and promoting overall well-being.

As a testament to her success, Dr. Joseph was honored as one of the 100 doctors chosen to attend President Barack Obama’s announcement of the Affordable Care Act in the Rose Garden on October 9, 2009.
