Dr. Shurman is board-certified in both dermatology and dermatologic surgery by the American Board of Dermatology (ABD). The ABD is an independent, non-profit organization. It is one of 24 medical specialty boards that make up the American Board of Medical Specialties.
Dr. Shurman is a member of the American Society for Dermatologic Surgery, the Philadelphia Dermatological Society, the Pennsylvania Medical Society, and the Berks County Medical Society. He is also a Fellow of the American Academy of Dermatology and a Fellow of the American College of Mohs Surgery.
Dermatology is the branch of medicine dealing with the skin, nails, hair and its diseases. It is a specialty with both medical and surgical aspects. As a dermatologist, Dr. Shurman specializes in treating conditions of the skin. Dermatological duties include taking consultations, providing screening tests, as well as undertaking non-invasive surgical procedures.
In addition to his love of caring for patients, Dr. Shurman is an avid tennis player. He also loves to exercise and most of all, he enjoys spending time with his wife, Julie, and three children – Alexa, Jesse, and Blake.
