Dr. Salerno is a highly-skilled pulmonologist specializing in pulmonary/critical care and sleep medicine. He is in practice with Millennium Physician Group in Naples, Florida.

Prior to joining the Millennium Physician Group, he served as the Pulmonary Director of the Pulmonary Vascular Disease program at Hartford Hospital and as an Assistant Medical Director of Gaylord Healthcare, a long-term acute care hospital in Wallingford, Connecticut. In addition, he served as an Assistant Professor of Medicine at the University of Connecticut School of Medicine, where he educated medical residents and pulmonary/critical care fellows.

Regarding his educational background, Dr. Salerno earned his Bachelor of Science degree from Brooklyn College. Wanting to start his medical career, he attended Saint George’s University School of Medicine in Grenada, West Indies where he earned his medical degree. 

After medical school, he completed his internship and residency at the University of Connecticut, followed by a year as Chief Medical Resident at Hartford Hospital. Finally, he completed a fellowship at the University of Connecticut Health Center, specializing in pulmonary/critical care medicine.

With over two decades of experience, the doctor is board-certified in internal medicine, pulmonary medicine, critical care medicine, and sleep medicine by the American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM). The ABIM is a physician-led, non-profit, independent evaluation organization driven by doctors who want to achieve higher standards for better care in a rapidly changing world.

Keeping up to date with the latest advancements in his respective field, Dr. Salerno is a Fellow of the American College of Chest Physicians and a member of the American Thoracic Society. 

Pulmonology is a medical specialty that deals with diseases involving the respiratory tract. A pulmonologist is an internal medicine physician who specializes in preventing, diagnosing, and treating conditions and diseases that affect the lungs, bronchial tubes, and the respiratory system, including the nose, pharynx, and throat.
