Providing Inclusive Care for All Ages and Backgrounds at Optum in Mission Hills

Dr. Alma Leyla Dehdasht a highly esteemed dermatologist, is currently practicing at Optum in Mission Hills in California. Specializing in a wide range of general medical and surgical skin conditions, her expertise includes treating acne, eczema, psoriasis, warts, skin infections, and various dermatitis types.

Since 2024, Dr. Dehdashti has been serving as an Assistant Clinical Professor at Michigan State University College of Osteopathic Medicine, showcasing her dedication to educating future medical professionals. 

Born in Lansing, Michigan, Dr. Dehdashti obtained her Bachelor of Arts in Finance from Michigan State University in 2002 before earning her Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine Degree from Michigan State University College of Osteopathic Medicine in 2007. She completed her residency training in internal medicine in 2010 and dermatology in 2013 at Western Reserve Hospital in Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio.

Dr. Dehdashti holds board certifications in internal medicine (American Board of Internal Medicine) and dermatology (American Board of Dermatology) and has been a Fellow of the American Academy of Dermatology and the American Osteopathic College of Dermatology since 2013.

Approaching patient care with a holistic perspective, Dr. Dehdashti understands the interconnectedness of overall health and skin conditions. Her practice covers a wide array of skin, nail, and hair disorders, with specialized expertise in treating skin cancers such as squamous cell carcinoma, basal cell carcinoma, actinic keratosis, and malignant melanoma. She is trained to treat skin disorders in a variety of ways, including topical treatments, phototherapy, cryosurgical destruction, chemotherapy and surgical excision.

Dedicated to providing compassionate care, Dr. Dehdashti warmly welcomes patients of all ages and backgrounds, including the LGBTQ+ community. Her commitment to addressing skin concerns and promoting well-being reflects her heartfelt passion for helping others. 

Beyond her medical practice, Dr. Dehdashti indulges in various hobbies, including scuba diving, cooking, traveling, and learning languages. Her adventurous spirit is reflected in her favorite travel destinations - New Zealand and the Maldives - and her passion for professional publications like Cutis and the Journal of the American Academy of Dermatology.
