Get to know Psychiatrist Dr. Oksana Cohen, who serves patients throughout the State of New York.

A top professional in the field of psychiatry, Dr. Cohen is a primary care doctor for the mind. She provides care for the psychological well-being of men and women, with an ability to diagnose and help manage all of the different types of mental illness. 

Having been in practice for over three decades, she is affiliated with Maimonides Medical Center, NYU Langone Hospital Brooklyn, Lenox Hill Hospital, and Forest Hills Hospital.

Academically, Dr. Cohen graduated with her medical degree from Tajik State Medical University in Tajikistan in 1992. Upon graduation, she relocated to the United States where she performed her residency in psychiatry at Maimonides Medical Center in 2005. She then completed her fellowship in geriatric psychiatry at Long Island Jewish Medical Center, completing her training in 2006.

Passionate about her profession, the doctor is board-certified in psychiatry by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology (ABPN). The ABPN is a not-for-profit corporation dedicated to serving the professions of psychiatry and neurology.

Psychiatry is the medical specialty devoted to the diagnosis, prevention, and treatment of mental disorders. These include various maladaptations related to mood, behavior, cognition, and perceptions. Psychiatrists evaluate, diagnose, and treat patients with mental, emotional, and behavioral disorders. They conduct thorough psychiatric evaluations, develop treatment plans, prescribe medication, and evaluate treatment results.
