Get to know Pediatrician Dr. Souheir Hassan Saker, who serves patients in Cleveland Heights, Ohio.

Serving children of all ages, Dr. Saker joined MetroHealth Cleveland Heights Medical Center in 2018. As a practicing pediatrician, her areas of expertise include check-ups, neonatology, immunization, and pediatric diabetes.

At MetroHealth, their mission, vision and values are not just words on a fading poster tucked behind someone’s desk. They are the core of their actions. While they take care of the ill and injured, they are increasingly focused on preventive care, fulfilling their mission of “leading the way to a healthier you and a healthier community through service, teaching, discovery and teamwork.” And they do this in an environment of inclusion. Every patient, whether economically needy or economically comfortable, gets the same attention – full attention – from their staff. Their goal has always been to treat patients like family, with the respect and dignity they deserve.

At the start of her academic career, Dr. Saker earned her medical degree from the Faculty of Medicine at Damascus University in Syria. After relocating to the United States, she went on to complete her internship at Western Reserve Health Education, and her residency in pediatrics at the Children’s Hospital Medical Center of Akron.

Licensed to practice medicine in Ohio, Michigan, and New Jersey, she is board-certified in pediatrics by the American Board of Pediatrics (ABP). The mission of the ABP is to advance child health by certifying pediatricians who meet standards of excellence and are committed to continuous learning and improvement.

Pediatrics is the branch of medicine that involves the medical care of infants, children, and adolescents. The American Academy of Pediatrics recommends individuals be under pediatric care up to the age of 21. Pediatricians provide medical care to people ranging in age from newborns to young adults. They are trained to examine, diagnose, and treat children with a wide variety of injuries and illnesses through all of their developmental stages, as they grow and mature.

On a more personal note, Dr. Saker speaks both English and Arabic.
