Get to know Pediatrician Dr. Sydney Sawyer, who serves patients in San Rafael, California.

As a board-certified pediatrician, Dr. Sawyer enjoys caring for children from birth through adolescence. She has a particular interest in developmental and behavioral pediatrics. She believes that the foundation of excellent care is a partnership based on open communication and trust. 

Since 2011, she has been serving patients at MarinHealth Pediatric Care, a UCSF Health Clinic, in San Rafael, California. “It’s only natural to want what’s best for your children. At MarinHealth Pediatric Care, we give your child the best possible care in a comfortable, supportive, and child-friendly atmosphere. Our physicians and staff know how to communicate with children in an empathetic, age-appropriate way. We have separate sick- and well-child waiting areas stocked with great toys and reading materials.” as stated on their website. 

After receiving her undergraduate degree from Yale University, Dr. Sawyer moved to the Bay Area. She feels fortunate to have trained at the University of California San Francisco for both medical school and residency in pediatrics. 

A member of the American Academy of Pediatrics, the doctor is board-certified in pediatrics by the American Board of Pediatrics, which is an independent, nonprofit organization whose certification is recognized throughout the world as a credential signifying a high level of physician competence. 

Pediatrics is the branch of medicine that involves the medical care of infants, children, and adolescents. As a pediatrician, Dr. Sawyer examines, diagnoses, and treats children of all ages with a wide variety of injuries and illnesses. She understands that children change rapidly and they must be approached with an appreciation for their stage of physical and mental development. 

On a more personal note, Dr. Sawyer lives in Marin with her 3 children. Outside of the office, she enjoys hiking, doing pilates, reading novels, and experimenting with new recipes in the kitchen.
