Graduating with her Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from Howard University in 1998, she completed a one year residency at the New Jersey Dental School before moving to the Tidewater area in 2005.
Taking an active role in the community, Dr. Colson-Scott routinely volunteers her time, skills, and knowledge to give those in need access to dental care. She has participated in the yearly health fair, Project Homeless Connect in Norfolk, since it started in 2005. This fair provides citizens access to medical providers, housing agencies, employment agencies, and mainstream benefits specialists. She also gives lessons on proper oral hygiene and what to expect at dental visits to school aged children in the classroom.

Happily married, she and her husband, Don, have a beautiful daughter, Peyton. In her spare time, her favorite activities include participating in outdoor sports, such as skiing and river rafting, camping, fishing, exercising, photography, attending local theater productions, reading and sleeping. Although she has resided in the great Commonwealth of Virginia for the last sixteen years, she is a Dallas Cowboys fan, and can be found at a game on several Sundays during the football season.
