Get to know Family Physician Dr. Pritpal Sandhu, who serves patients in Surprise, Arizona.

A trusted family physician specializing in sports medicine, Dr. Sandhu believes patient care should be patient-centered and evidence-based. Having been practicing since September 2008, he is a part of the team of professionals at Grand Medical Associates in Surprise, Arizona. 

Offering primary care for adults and specializing in geriatrics, Grand Medical Associates serves the rapidly growing northwest valley, providing a wide range of acute, chronic and preventive services. With special emphasis on patient-centered care and patient education, the practice strives to deliver exceptional personalized care. In addition to everyday health challenges, patients can count on Grand Medical Associates for disease management, routine checkups, immunizations, oversight of chronic illness, as well as physicals.

Back in 1999, Dr. Sandhu received his medical degree from Central America Health Sciences University, Belize and the University of Alberta in Edmonton, Canada. He then went on to complete both his internship and residency in family medicine at Guthrie Robert Packer Hospital in 2008, where he was awarded Chief Medical Resident.

That same year, he attained board certification in family medicine through the American Board of Family Medicine (ABFM). The ABFM is a non-profit, independent medical association of American physicians who practice in family medicine and its sub-specialties.

On a professional level, Dr. Sandhu is an active member of the American Academy of Family Physicians. He is also an attending physician at Banner Thunderbird Medical Center.

Family medicine is a medical specialty devoted to comprehensive health care for people of all ages. The specialist is called a family physician or family doctor. A family physician is often the first person a patient sees when seeking healthcare services. They examine and treat patients with a wide range of conditions and refer those with serious ailments to a specialist or appropriate facility.

Among Dr. Sandhu’s various accolades include On-Time Doctor Award (2020, 2018, 2016), Compassionate Doctor Recognition (2020, 2018, 2016), and Patients’ Choice Award (2020, 2018).
