Get to know Nephrologist  Dr. Arzu Hatipoglu, who serves patients in Metairie, Louisiana

A board-certified nephrologist, Dr. Hatipoglu sees patients at Metropolitan Kidney Centers, a hemodialysis and peritoneal dialysis private practice with several office locations in Louisiana, including Metairie, Chalemette, Laplace, New Orleans, Morgan City, Raceland, Gramercy, and Vacherie. Dr. Hatipoglu remains affiliated with several local hospitals, including East Jefferson General Hospital in Metairie, Ochsner St. Mary in Morgan City, St. Bernard Parish Hospital in Chalmette, Ochsner Medical Center – Kenner in Kenner, and St. James Parish Hospital in Lutcher, Louisiana.

Dr. Hatipoglu received her medical degree in 1996 at Louisiana State University School of Medicine in Shreveport, Louisiana. She then pursued an internal medicine residency at Louisiana State University School of Medicine (1996-1999). She advanced her training with a fellowship in nephrology, which she completed at the Tulane University Medical Center in New Orleans, Louisiana (1999 – 2001).

Subsequent to his education, Dr. Hatipoglu attained board certification in internal medicine and the subspecialty of nephrology through the American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM). The American Board of Internal Medicine is a 501 nonprofit, self-appointed physician-evaluation organization that certifies physicians practicing internal medicine and its subspecialties.

Nephrology is a specialty of adult internal medicine and pediatric medicine that concerns the study of the kidneys, specifically normal kidney function and kidney disease, the preservation of kidney health, and the treatment of kidney disease, from diet and medication to renal replacement therapy. 

On a more personal note, Dr. Hatipoglu speaks Turkish in addition to English.
