A leader in the field of medical oncology, Dr. Mininberg diagnoses and treats patients with all cancer types. He joined Piedmont Cancer Institute in 2003 and now serves as the President. He currently sees patients at their offices in Atlanta and Stockbridge, Georgia.

The physicians and advanced practitioners at Piedmont Cancer Institute work closely with patients’ entire treatment team of specialists, primary care physicians, family, and caregivers to address their individualized cancer treatment plan. They integrate leading-edge therapies, the latest clinical trials, and cancer wellness programs for the best care possible.

Throughout his academic career, Dr. Mininberg graduated with his medical degree from the University of Virginia School of Medicine, and completed his residency in internal medicine at the same educational venue. He then went on to complete his fellowship in hematology at Baylor University, and his fellowship in medical oncology at the University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center.

In pursuit of clinical excellence, the doctor is board-certified in medical oncology, hematology, and internal medicine by the American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM). The ABIM is a physician-led, non-profit, independent evaluation organization driven by doctors who want to achieve higher standards for better care in a rapidly changing world.

Oncology is a branch of medicine that deals with the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of cancer. A medical professional who practices oncology is an oncologist. An oncologist is a doctor who treats cancer and provides medical care for a person diagnosed with cancer. They lead a cancer treatment team of various healthcare professionals, treat patients with radiation therapy, coordinate treatment plans and prescribe various types of treatment, including chemotherapy and immunotherapy, as well as assist patients with pain management.

A recipient of numerous awards and honors, Dr. Mininberg was inducted as a member of the Cum Laude Society with St. Albans School in Washington, DC in 1989. While at The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center, he was honored with the Elsa U. Pardee Foundation Grant for Community Oncology. As a fellow in 2003, he was awarded the American Society of Clinical Oncology Merit Award.

Happily married, he and his wife have two children. In his free time, he enjoys cooking and playing with his large friendly rescue retriever mix, Nickel.
