Get to know General Surgeon, Dr. Sarah E. Ducharme, who serves patients in Tucson, Arizona

Dr. Ducharme is a board-certified general surgeon who maintains a private practice, Ducharme General Surgery PLLC, in Tucson, Arizona. She remains affiliated with Tucson Medical Center and Carondelet St. Joseph’s Hospital.  She is licensed to practice in the states of Arizona, Texas, and Michigan. Prior to establishing Ducharme General Surgery PLLC in 2021, Dr. Ducharme served with Saguaro Surgical for nine years (2011-2020). 

Dr. Ducharme received her medical degree in 1997 at Wayne State University School of Medicine in Detroit, Michigan. She completed her general surgery residency at Wilford Hall Medical Center/University of Texas Health Science Center – San Antonio in San Antonio, Texas (1997-2002). She completed her undergraduate education, i.e., a Bachelor of Arts degree in History at Albion College in Albion, Michigan, in 1992.

A Fellow of the American College of Surgeons (FACS), the doctor attained board certification in general surgery through the American Board of Surgery (ABS). The ABS is an independent, non-profit organization located in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, founded for the purpose of certifying surgeons who have met a defined standard of education, training, and knowledge.

General surgery is a surgical specialty that focuses on abdominal contents including the esophagus, stomach, small bowel, colon, liver, pancreas, gallbladder, appendix and bile ducts, and often the thyroid gland. A general surgeon performs a wide range of operations for many forms of intestinal and abdominal wall neoplasms, gallbladder disease, colon and breast cancers. General surgeons also perform hernia repairs, and remove lumps and bumps.    Dr. Ducharme also performs upper and lower endoscopies.  She has an all female team for her endoscopies
