Get to know Physiatrist Dr. Kevin Jerome Collins, who serves patients in Sherwood, Arkansas.

An excellent physiatrist, Dr. Collins is the Medical Director of CHI St. Vincent Sherwood Rehabilitation Hospital. He specializes in electromyography (EMG), musculoskeletal medicine, nerve conduction studies, and nonsurgical outpatient spine medicine.

CHI St. Vincent Sherwood Rehabilitation Hospital, a partner of Encompass Health, is committed to helping its patients regain independence after a life-changing illness or injury. Located in Sherwood and serving the greater Little Rock area and central Arkansas, it is an inpatient rehabilitation hospital that provides inpatient physical therapy, occupational therapy and speech language pathology for stroke, Parkinson’s disease, and other complex neurological and orthopedic conditions.

Regarding his educational background, Dr. Collins attended the University of California, obtaining a bachelor’s degree in biology in 1984. He later went to pursue his medical degree at the University of Southern California School of Medicine, graduating in 1989. Four years later, in 1993, he completed his residency in physical medicine and rehabilitation at the University of Cincinnati.

Subsequent to his education, the doctor attained board certification in physical medicine and rehabilitation through the American Board of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation (ABPMR). The mission of the ABPMR is to serve the public by improving the quality of patient care in physical medicine and rehabilitation. This is accomplished through a process of certification and maintenance of certification that fosters excellence and encourages continuous learning.

A member of the American Academy of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, Dr. Collins has medical privileges at CHI St. Vincent North, North Metro Medical Center, Applied Research Center of Arkansas, Baptist Health Extended Care Hospital, Baptist Health Medical Center-Little Rock, Baptist Health Medical Center-North Little Rock, Baptist Health Rehabilitation Institute-Little Rock, and Baptist Health Medical Center-Conway.

Physical medicine and rehabilitation, also known as physiatry and physiatrics, is a branch of medicine that aims to enhance and restore functional ability and quality of life to those with physical impairments or disabilities. Physiatrists treat a wide variety of medical conditions affecting the brain, spinal cord, nerves, bones, joints, ligaments, muscles, and tendons.
