Elevating Standards of Care at Prominent New Jersey Hospitals and Private Practice

Dr. Suzana E. Morgan, MD is a prominent figure in the field of rheumatology. She has made significant contributions to patient care at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital, Saint Peter’s University Hospital, and her private practice, St. Karas Medical Practice in East Brunswick, New Jersey.

As an Assistant Professor at Rutgers Robert Wood Johnson Medical School since 2013, Dr. Morgan imparts her knowledge and expertise to the next generation of medical professionals. In this role, she educates rheumatology fellows, residents, and medical students, both in clinical settings and during hospital rounds. Dr. Morgan focuses on teaching essential skills such as conducting thorough patient histories, performing comprehensive physical examinations, and devising effective assessment and care plans. She emphasizes the importance of evidence-based medicine in clinical practice.

Dr. Morgan’s journey in medicine began with her Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery Degree from the University of Assiut, Faculty of Medicine and Surgery in Egypt in 1993. She then pursued rigorous postgraduate training, starting with an internship at Assiut University Hospitals from March 1994 to February 1995. She served as a resident in family medicine at Maternal and Child Care Units in Cairo from March 1995 to February 1997, after which she completed fellowships in rheumatology/physical medicine and rehabilitation at St. Mary Clinic and Manshiet El Bakry Hospital from March 1997 to November 1998.

Upon relocating to the United States, Dr. Morgan pursued a residency in internal medicine at New York Medical College, Richmond Program, from July 2006 to June 2009. She furthered her expertise in rheumatology at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital from June 2010 to June 2012.

Board certified in rheumatology and internal medicine by the American Board of Internal Medicine, Dr. Morgan maintains the highest standards of practice. She holds drug licenses from the Controlled Dangerous Substances (CDS) and the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and upholding patient safety.

Showcasing her commitment to advancing the field and supporting fellow professionals, Dr. Morgan is a Fellow of both the American College of Rheumatology and the Association of Women in Rheumatology. Additionally, she is a member of the American Medical Association and the Egyptian Society of Rheumatology and Physical Medicine.  

Throughout her extensive career, Dr. Morgan has held various employment and major visiting appointments. She served as a Clinical Instructor at the Medical Technology Institute in Woodbridge, New Jersey from May 2004 to December 2004. Following this, she worked as a Clinical Observer at Williamsport Hospital and Medical Center in Pennsylvania from November 2005 to June 2006. Subsequently, Dr. Morgan served as an independent internal medicine/rheumatology attending physician at Clove Lakes Rehabilitation Center in Staten Island, New York from July 2009 to October 2013. 

Her notable accolades, including Best Resident Award from the House Staff Association at Richmond University Medical Center (2008), Compassionate Doctor Recognition Award (2014), Patient’s Choice Award (2018), and Top Rheumatologist representing East Brunswick, New Jersey by Women in Medicine (2023), reflect the high regard in which she is held by both colleagues and patients alike.

Dr. Morgan’s multilingual abilities in English and Egyptian Arabic enable her to effectively communicate with a diverse range of patients, fostering trust and understanding in the doctor-patient relationship. 

Engaged in community outreach, she plays an integral role in the St. Mary Coptic Orthodox Church medical committee, where she contributes by offering complimentary medical services to the indigent population, as well as providing guidance and educational support to junior physicians. Moreover, Dr. Morgan is an active member of the Egyptian American Christian Association, an organization committed to extending financial and psychological assistance to disadvantaged members of the Egyptian-American population. 

With a passion for excellence and a compassionate approach to patient care, Dr. Morgan continues to make a positive impact in the field of rheumatology. Her dedication to continuous learning and professional development has shaped her into the top-tier rheumatologist she is today.
