Get to know Ophthalmologist Dr. Lena A. Dixit, who serves patients in Texas.

Dr. Dixit is a board-certified ophthalmologist who specializes in cataract and intraocular lens surgery, laser-assisted cataract surgery, corneal transplant surgery, ocular surface disease and reconstruction, dry eye, ocular surface tumors, and laser vision correction. She is currently practicing at Eye Associates of Central Texas in Round Rock, Texas.

Eye Associates of Central Texas serve the eye care needs across Central Texas, including Round Rock, Taylor, Austin, Pflugerville, Georgetown, Cedar Park, Leander, Hutto, Rockdale, and Marble Falls. “To accommodate the distinctive needs of each patient, we offer a variety of services ranging from complete eye examinations (including refractions for glasses and contact lenses) to more extensive procedures, such as cataract, laser, and refractive surgical procedures such as LASIK and PRK.  We keep a variety of contact lenses in stock, and have an optical shop next door for your convenience” as stated on the practice’s website. 

Prior to enrolling in medical school, Dr. Dixit earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Biomedical Engineering at the University of Texas at Austin and graduated summa cum laude with high honors. She was nominated for the Outstanding Scholar Award by the College of Engineering. 

She earned her medical degree and certification in Medical Ethics at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, graduating with honors. Following an internship at Brackenridge Hospital in Austin, she completed her residency in ophthalmology at Baylor College of Medicine. Thereafter, she completed additional subspecialty training at the top-ranked Bascom Palmer Eye Institute in Miami, Florida, with a fellowship in cornea, external disease, cataract, and refractive surgery.

Before long, Dr. Dixit became board-certified in ophthalmology by the American Board of Ophthalmology, an independent, non-profit organization responsible for certifying ophthalmologists in the United States of America. In order to stay up to date in her field, she remains a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology and the Cornea Society. She is also a legislative advocate for patients and physicians. 

Ophthalmology is a branch of medicine and surgery, which deals with the diagnosis and treatment of eye disorders. Ophthalmologists are experts in the diseases, functions, and anatomy of the eye. They may provide routine care such as vision testing, as well as prescribe and fit eyeglasses or contact lenses. However, ophthalmologists are also surgeons. They repair traumatic injuries to the eye and perform cataract, glaucoma, and corneal surgery. 

In her personal life, Dr. Dixit enjoys spending time with family and friends, playing the violin, playing soccer, swimming, and partaking in outdoor activities.
