Leading the Way in Patient-Centric Healthcare at New Wave Physicians Group

A seasoned internist, Dr. Amie Sun-Wright is the Founder of New Wave Physicians Group, bringing over 15 years of experience in comprehensive patient care. Based in North Houston, she is dedicated to applying her extensive clinical expertise and scientific knowledge to provide compassionate, high-value healthcare that prioritizes the well-being of her patients.

About her educational pursuits, she earned her Master of Science and PhD in biochemistry from the University of Texas in San Antonio, where she also served as an Assistant Professor. Her innovative research on bacteriophage therapy has equipped her with a unique perspective on patient care, emphasizing systematic assessment and critical thinking. This solid foundation in science fuels her commitment to delivering the best health outcomes and patient experiences.

Transitioning from research to medicine, Dr. Sun-Wright obtained her medical degree from Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center School of Medicine. She completed her residency in Dallas before relocating to the Houston area to be closer to her family. Her dedication to her patients and community has earned her accolades, including recognition as one of Houston’s “Top Doctors” for multiple years and a spot in the Who’s Who in Primary Care in the U.S. in 2018.

In 2021, Dr. Sun-Wright founded New Wave Physicians Group after serving in high-level management roles within two large multi-specialty healthcare organizations. Her vision is to create a patient-centered, primary care-focused practice that consistently places the interests of patients first. “I am grateful to work alongside a remarkable team of providers and staff at NWPG,” said Dr. Sun-Wright. “Together, we strive to enhance the healthcare experience for our community.”

Outside of her practice, she is a triathlon enthusiast and enjoys spending quality time with her family. She is fluent in English, and Chinese, and medically conversant in Spanish, allowing her to connect with a diverse patient population.
