Get to know Psychiatrist Dr. Dawit Zemichael, who serves patients in Knoxville, Tennessee.

Dr. Zemichael is a board-certified psychiatrist with over 20 years of experience. He is currently serving patients at his private practice, Healthy Living Medical Services, LLC, in Knoxville, Tennessee. There, he offers a highly personalized approach tailored to each of his patients’ individual needs to help attain personal growth and fulfillment. 

Utilizing the latest advancements in the industry, Dr. Zemichael has attained extensive expertise in the areas of psychiatry, addiction medicine, internal medicine, and emergency medicine. In addition, he is adept in medical matters with regards to ADHD, anxiety, depression, schizophrenia and bi-polar disorder in adults and children ages 6 and older.

Dr. Zemichael earned his medical degree from the American University of the Caribbean. He then went on to earn his Master of Science degree in molecular biology from Howard University. Upon completing both internship and residency in internal medicine at Franklin Square Hospital, Dr. Zemichael completed an additional residency in psychiatry at East Tennessee State University – Quillen College of Medicine. 

Dr. Zemichael was voted among America’s Top Psychiatrists in 2008. He has also received several other awards throughout his line of work, including Best Resident Teacher of the Year Award and Chief of Staff Award of Excellence and Exemplary Work in Geriatric Psychiatry.

Dr. Zemichael is active in volunteer work with medical and humanitarian missions to Eritrea. He also volunteers with the Oversight-Medication Program in St. Mary’s Neuropsychiatric Hospital. Furthermore, he provides consultation and public speech presentations through pharmaceutical companies. 

To further enhance his professional development, Dr. Zemichael is an esteemed member of several organizations, including the Tennessee Psychiatric Association and the Southern Medical Association. 

Dr. Zemichael attributes his success to his research, his ability to provide quality patient care, his dedication to his field, as well as his desire to continue learning. In his spare time, he enjoys writing, teaching, public speaking, traveling the world, and playing racquetball. In addition to English, Dr. Zemichael is fluent in Arabic, Eritrean, Ethiopian, and Italian.
