    Sorry, I am a diagnostic radiologist and this question would be better answered by a radiation therapy oncologist. In general the effects of the bladder from radiation includes chronic inflammation to both the bladder and surrounding structures such as the rectum and small bowel.     The amount you get from a chest X-ray is small about 200 Microsieverts. To put that in perspective, you receive 500 microsieverts from normal background radiation if you live in Denver, Colorado. A CT of the abdomen is 7000-10,000 Microsieverts. READ MORE

    The amount of radiation from a single digital oral x-ray is approximately 4 microsieverts. To put that in perspective normal background radiation in Denver, Colorado is 500 microsieverts. In other words the radiation dose is quite small and not a significant risk. A chest x-ray is approximately 25 microsieverts. A CT of the abdomen is somewhere between 7000 and 10,000 microsieverts. Dr. Robert Leckie is a radiologist with  North Star  Radiology who supports several hospitals in northern Nevada and Northern California. He and his wife Alesandra started the group in 1997. Dr. Leckie is a  former Chief of Staff of Northern Nevada Medical Center and is the President of North Star Radiology. He has been recognized by Nevada magazine as one of the top 100 physicians in Nevada and only one of three Radiologists. He practices in northern Nevada at Northern Nevada medical center  in Sparks, Pershing General Hospital in Lovelock, Humboldt General Hospital in Winnemucca and William B. Ririe Hospital in Ely. In Northern California he works at Banner Susanville hospital in Susanville, Seneca Hospital in Chester, Plumas District hospital in Quincy and Eastern Plumas Districk hospital in Portola.

In his professional experience, he is affiliated with Banner Lassen Medical Center, Northern Nevada Medical Center, Plumas District Hospital, and Seneca District Hospital. He also cooperates with other doctors and physicians in medical groups including Northstar Imaging Inc.

Graduating with his medical degree from the University of Virginia School of Medicine in 1987, Dr. Leckie pursued further training. He performed his residency in internal medicine at Letterman Army Hospital in 1988, and his residency in radiology at Tripler Army Medical Center in 1992. 

Subsequent to his education, the doctor attained board certification in diagnostic radiology through the American Board of Radiology (ABR). The ABR is a not-for-profit physician-led organization that oversees the certification and ongoing professional development of specialists in diagnostic radiology, interventional radiology, radiation oncology, and medical physics.
