A prominent orthopedic surgeon, Dr. Naranje works with patients at the Orthopedic Clinic at UAB Hospital – Highlands. His clinical interests include adult hip and knee disorders, arthritis and fracture care. 

Specializing in hip and knee surgery including total hip and knee replacement, partial knee replacement and revision hip and knee replacement, he utilizes less-invasive surgical techniques and speedy recovery programs. He is currently Director of the fracture fragility care program at UAB which involves comprehensive care of geriatric patients who have fractures related to osteoporosis.

A native of India, Dr. Naranje earned his medical degree from the Government Medical College. He went on to complete his residencies in orthopedic surgery at the All India Institute of Medical Science, followed by advanced orthopedic surgery training at Campbell Clinic and the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB). He also completed his fellowship in adult hip and knee reconstruction at the University of Minnesota, Minneapolis.

With an unwavering commitment to his specialty, the doctor is board-certified in orthopedic surgery by the American Board of Orthopedic Surgery (ABOS). The ABOS is an organization with the goal of establishing educational and professional standards for orthopedic residents and surgeons as well as evaluating the qualifications and competence of orthopedic surgeons.

Continuously advancing his efforts, Dr. Naranje is an active member of multiple professional societies in orthopaedics including the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons and the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons (Glasgow, UK).

With a passion for teaching, he serves as an Assistant Professor within the Department of Orthopedic Surgery at the University of Alabama at Birmingham. He has extensive experience in teaching medical students, residents and medical staff during his multiple years of clinical practice and fellowship training.

Active in joint and bone research, Dr. Naranje has published in numerous peer-reviewed journals and textbooks. He is also an editorial board member /reviewer for many reputed orthopedic journals. His clinical research work has been presented and recognized internationally in multiple conferences.
