Bringing Extensive Experience and Leadership to Advance Patient Care in Detroit, Michigan

Dr. Jeffrey K. Clark, a distinguished board-certified anesthesiologist who specializes in both anesthesia and critical care, brings decades of experience and leadership to his role as Specialist-in-Chief of the Department of Anesthesiology at The Detroit Medical Center.

Dr. Clark’s impressive career includes serving four terms as Chief of Staff at Harper University Hospital and Hutzel Women’s Hospital, where he demonstrated exceptional leadership and commitment to patient care. His academic roles further highlight his dedication to the field as a Clinical Associate Professor at Wayne State University School of Medicine, an Adjunct Clinical Assistant Professor at the University of Michigan Medical School, an Adjunct Associate Professor at Meharry Medical College, and an Associate Clinical Professor at Michigan State University College of Osteopathic Medicine.

A proud graduate of the University of Michigan Medical School in 1982, Dr. Clark completed his residency in anesthesiology at Georgetown University Hospital and further enhanced his expertise with a fellowship in cardiac critical care at the prestigious Cleveland Clinic. His extensive training and experience position him as a leader in the field, particularly in cardiac anesthesia and critical care management.

In addition to his clinical and academic roles, Dr. Clark is a long-standing member of the National Medical Association (NMA), having served in various capacities since 1995. His contributions to the NMA include his roles as Secretary of the House of Delegates, Trustee of the Board of Trustees, and Chair of the Finance Committee. Notably, he was a member of the Financial Review Team that successfully restructured the NMA’s finances, achieving a positive budget in 2014.

Dr. Clark’s leadership extends beyond clinical practice and academic involvement; he has actively advocated for advancing anesthesiology and healthcare equity. His election as President of the Wolverine State in 2007 underscores his commitment to improving healthcare outcomes for diverse populations.
