A 1980 graduate of the Louisiana State University School of Medicine in New Orleans, Dr. Pollet performed his residency in internal medicine at Ochsner Foundation Hospital in New Orleans, completing the program in 1983. Two years later, in 1985, he completed his fellowship in internal medicine/geriatrics at the University of California-Davis in Sacramento, followed by a second fellowship in rheumatology at the same educational venue in 1987.
Returning to his home state of Louisiana, he worked at the Ochsner Medical Center in Baton Rouge until joining the family of physicians at The Baton Rouge Clinic in 1993. To date, he is a board member of the Rheumatology Associates of Louisiana and the former Vice-Chairman of the Arthritis Association of Louisiana. Additionally, he is an Assistant Clinical Professor of Medicine with the LSU Health Sciences Center and a member of the Baton Rouge Clinic Osteoporosis Center.
A Fellow of the American College of Rheumatology (FACR) and a member of the Capital Area Medical Society, the doctor is board-certified in both rheumatology and internal medicine by the American Board of Internal Medicine, a physician-led, non-profit, independent evaluation organization driven by doctors who want to achieve higher standards for better care in a rapidly changing world.
Rheumatology is a branch of medicine devoted to the diagnosis and therapy of rheumatic diseases. Physicians who have undergone formal training in rheumatology are called rheumatologists. Rheumatologists treat arthritis, autoimmune diseases, pain disorders affecting joints, and osteoporosis. There are more than 200 types of these diseases, including rheumatoid arthritis, osteoarthritis, gout, lupus, back pain, osteoporosis, and tendinitis.
Away from his practice, Dr. Pollet has served in medical missions to Honduras through St. Aloysius Church in Baton Rouge and is a member of the Baton Rouge Chapter of Legatus, an organization of business leaders. In 2019, he was voted into the 2020 Best Doctors List published by Louisiana Life Magazine.
Happily married, his wife is a physician. They have four children, two of which have earned their MDs. Dr. Pollet is a fan of many various sports, both at collegiate and professional levels.
