With a broad educational background, he received his undergraduate degree from Purdue University and earned his Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine degree from the New York College of Osteopathic Medicine. He then went on to complete his internship at Peninsula Hospital Center, and his residency in internal medicine at Mountainside Hospital and Overlook Hospital.
Recognized as a Diplomate of the National Board of Osteopathic Medicine, Dr. Berardi is board-certified in internal medicine by the American Osteopathic Board of Internal Medicine, which is an organization that provides board certification to qualified Doctors of Osteopathic Medicine who specialize in the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of disease in adults. He is also a Diplomate of the National Board of Physicians and Surgeons
Maintaining fellowship status, he is a Fellow of the American College of Physicians (FACP), Fellow of the American College of Osteopathic Internists (FACOI), and is a Certified Correctional Health Professional (CCHP).
In his professional experience, Dr. Berardi served as the Medical Director for the Family Health Center at Community Medical Center in Toms River where he received both Physician of the Year and Director of Department of the Year. He currently serves as President on the Board of Health for the City of Summit and was the former Medical Director for Spring Grove Skilled Nursing facility in New Providence.
Additionally, he has been an Affiliate Physician in the Division of Clinical Practice at Columbia University, the Medical Director of the Osteopathic Medical Residency program at Overlook Hospital, Medical Director of "Weigh to Live" a medically managed weight loss program, and most recently, Medical Director of the Passaic County Sheriff's Department, where he successfully guided the dismissal of a federally mandated oversight that had been in place for seven years prior to his arrival, in his first 18 months.

Away from medicine, he enjoys reading, hiking, running, going to the gym, and most of all, being with his wife of more than 25 years and their three children.
