Get to know Ophthalmologist Dr. Steve H. Tu, who serves patients throughout the State of Connecticut. 

Dr. Tu is a compassionate and experienced ophthalmologist able to provide the full spectrum of eye care to patients at Fichman Eye Center in Connecticut. 

When it comes to eye care, Fichman Eye Center has a wide variety of certified opticians who are specialized in enhancing eyesight for strength and clarity. With four locations around Connecticut, including Manchester, Hartford, New Britain, and Torrington, the team of professionals help residents from all corners of the state with their visual needs and answer any questions they might have. Quality of vision is their number one priority.

The doctor is board-certified in ophthalmology by the American Board of Ophthalmology, whose mission is to serve the public by improving the quality of ophthalmic practice through a process of certification and Maintenance of Certification that fosters excellence and encourages continual learning. 

Born and raised in the hills of New Jersey, Dr. Tu went to Rutgers University and then the University of Health Sciences in Kansas City, Missouri for medical school. His medical training involved traveling to several areas across the country, from Florida to Michigan to Pennsylvania. He did his residency in ophthalmology in Dayton, Ohio, after which he began working with Dr. Fichman in 2001, a pioneer of LASIK eye surgery and a leader in the effort to revitalize the Upper Albany Avenue section of Hartford.

Ophthalmology is a branch of medicine and surgery, which deals with the diagnosis and treatment of eye disorders. Ophthalmologists are experts in the diseases, functions, and anatomy of the eye. They may provide routine care such as vision testing, as well as prescribe and fit eyeglasses or contact lenses. However, ophthalmologists are also surgeons. They repair traumatic injuries to the eye and perform cataract, glaucoma, and corneal surgery. 

Outside of the office, Dr. Tu enjoys traveling and is an avid skier.
