Get to know Hematologist-Oncologist Dr. Clyde Michael Jones, who serves patients in Tennessee.

Dr. Jones is a board-certified hematologist-oncologist who is affiliated with several Baptist Cancer Centers through the states of Mississippi and Tennessee, including Baptist Memorial Hospital-Union County (primary location), Baptist Memorial Hospital-Collierville, Baptist Memorial Hospital-DeSoto, Baptist Memorial Hospital-Memphis, Baptist Memorial Hospital-Tipton, Baptist Memorial Hospital for Women, and Baptist Memorial Restorative Care Hospital. 

Baptist Cancer Centers are located throughout the Mid-South so that patients can receive the advanced cancer care they need at a convenient location. From prevention to diagnosis through treatment and into survivorship, the cancer care team is there fighting and educating patients to help them beat cancer.

The doctor’s acclaimed career in medicine began after he earned his medical degree from the University of Alabama at Birmingham School of Medicine in 1974. He then went on to complete his internship at the University of Alabama in 1975, followed by his residency at the University of Alabama at Birmingham in 1976. Two years later, in 1978, he completed his fellowship at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine.

A Fellow of the American College of Physicians (FACP), Dr. Jones is board-certified in hematology and medical oncology by the American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM). The ABIM is a physician-led, non-profit, independent evaluation organization driven by doctors who want to achieve higher standards for better care in a rapidly changing world.

Furthermore, he is licensed to practice medicine in several states throughout the United States, including Mississippi, Tennessee, Texas, Maryland, and Alabama.

Hematology is the branch of medicine concerned with the study of the cause, prognosis, treatment, and prevention of diseases related to blood. Oncology is a branch of medicine that deals with the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of cancer. A hematologist-oncologist is a physician who specializes in the diagnosis, treatment, or prevention of blood diseases and cancers such as iron-deficiency anemia, hemophilia, sickle-cell disease, leukemia, and lymphoma.
