Get to know Cardiothoracic Surgeon Dr. Deepak Singh, who serves patients in Danville, Pennsylvania.

In practice for nearly three decades, Dr. Singh is a respected cardiothoracic surgeon. He serves as the Director of Cardiothoracic Surgery & the Director of Mechanical Circulatory Support at Geisinger Medical Center in Daville, Pennsylvania.

Back in 1993, Dr. Singh graduated with his medical degree from the Lewis Katz School of Medicine at Temple University. He then went on to perform his residency in general surgery at Morristown Medical Center in 1998, followed by his residency in cardiac surgery at Allegheny General Hospital in 2001.

A Fellow of the American College of Cardiology (FACC), the doctor is board-certified in thoracic and cardiac surgery by the American Board of Thoracic Surgery (ABTS). The ABTS is an American surgical organization devoted to surgery of the chest. 

Furthermore, he is board-certified in surgery by the American Board of Surgery, an independent, non-profit organization located in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, founded for the purpose of certifying surgeons who have met a defined standard of education, training, and knowledge.

Cardiovascular science, cancer, clinical trials, surgical sciences, and education are among Dr. Singh’s research interests.

Cardiothoracic surgery is the field of medicine involved in the surgical treatment of organs inside the thorax. Cardiothoracic surgeons are medical doctors who specialize in surgical procedures inside the thorax, which may involve the heart, lungs, esophagus, and other organs in the chest. Alongside performing surgery, they also diagnose and treat diseases of these organs. 

In honor of his clinical excellence, Dr. Singh is the recipient of Compassionate Doctor Recognition (2014) and Patients’ Choice Award (2014, 2015).
