With over 35 years of experience as a board-certified cardiologist, Dr. Freedman Jr. is the Founder of Life Recovery Systems, a medical device company, a clinical expert in therapeutic hypothermia, as well as the Founder and Managing Partner of Freedman Memorial Cardiology in Alexandria, Louisiana. 

For more than 70 years, as the first cardiologist in Central Louisiana, Dr. Freedman Jr.’s father, Dr. Robert Freedman Sr., provided high quality personal medical care, while always encouraging responsible technical progress. Freedman Memorial Cardiology was created in his memory, to provide the best in cardiovascular care.

After graduating from Bolton High School, Dr. Freedman Jr. attended Tulane University and the Tulane University School of Medicine, where he earned his medical degree. His postgraduate training involved a residency in internal medicine at the Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, Texas, followed by a fellowship in cardiology at the University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston. He also served as a US Air Force flight surgeon based in Spain. 

A Fellow of the American College of Cardiology and a Fellow of the Society for Cardiovascular Angiography and Interventions, the doctor is board-certified in both internal medicine and cardiovascular disease by the American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM). The ABIM is a physician-led, non-profit, independent evaluation organization driven by doctors who want to achieve higher standards for better care in a rapidly changing world.

In addition to having served on the Editorial Board of Cardiovascular Catheterization and Intervention, Dr. Freedman Jr. has had the honor of serving as Governor of the Louisiana Chapter of the American College of Cardiology. 

For many years, he has been recognized by his peers as one of the best doctors in Louisiana and in the United States. He has received the Best Doctors in America Award yearly since 2000 and Enrique Lopez Award for Medical Invention in 2009. 

Cardiology is a branch of medicine that deals with the disorders of the heart, as well as some parts of the circulatory system. The field includes medical diagnosis and treatment of congenital heart defects, coronary artery disease, heart failure, valvular heart disease, and electrophysiology.
