Born and raised in St. Louis, Missouri, Dr. Spencer started his medical career by earning his medical degree from Meharry Medical College School of Medicine in 2004. He then went on to complete his adult neurology training at the Mayo Clinic Arizona in 2008, and a subsequent fellowship in stroke and cerebrovascular neurology at the same educational venue. Furthermore, he completed a second fellowship in neuro-ophthalmology at the University of Utah, Moran Eye Center.
The recipient of the Peak Performer Award in 2014, the doctor is board-certified in neurology and vascular neurology by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology (ABPN). The ABPN is a not-for-profit corporation dedicated to promoting high-quality patient care for the public through the initial and continuing certification of psychiatrists and neurologists.
