Get to know General Surgeon Dr. Frank R. Arko II, who serves patients in Blythe, California. 

Dr. Arko II is an experienced general surgeon who is affiliated with Palo Verde Hospital in Blythe, California. 

Palo Verde Hospital is a fully accredited 51-bed acute care District Hospital that is dedicated to providing inpatient and outpatient services to the Palo Verde Valley and surrounding communities. The mission of the hospital is to provide outstanding services to improve the health and well-being of their diverse community.

Throughout his academic career, Dr. Arko II received his medical degree from the University of Minnesota Medical School. Thereafter, he went on to complete an internship at St. Luke’s Hospital, followed by residencies in general surgery at UPMC McKeesport and the Naval Medical Center San Diego. 

A member of the Southwestern Surgical Congress, the doctor is board-certified in surgery by the American Board of Surgery (ABS). Founded in 1937, the ABS is an independent, non-profit organization dedicated to providing board certification to individuals who have met a defined standard of education, training, and knowledge in the field of surgery. 

As a testament to his success, Dr. Arko II is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons (FACS). The post-nominal title ‘FACS’ is used to indicate that the surgeon’s education and training, professional qualifications, surgical competence, and ethical conduct have passed a rigorous evaluation, and have been found to be consistent with the high standards established and demanded by said College. 

General surgery is a surgical specialty that focuses on abdominal contents including the esophagus, stomach, small bowel, colon, liver, pancreas, gallbladder, appendix and bile ducts, and often the thyroid gland. As a general surgeon, Dr. Arko II examines patients and makes diagnoses to determine the need for surgery. He performs operations involving the endocrine system, gastrointestinal tract, liver, colon, and other major parts of the human body.
