Get to know Orthopedic Surgeon Dr. Sripad H. Dhawlikar, who serves patients in New Jersey.

Throughout his illustrious career as a board-certified orthopedic surgeon, Dr. Dhawlikar has attained extensive experience in the areas of spinal surgery, scoliosis surgery, and pediatric orthopedics. He is currently serving patients at Ocean Orthopedic Associates with locations in Toms River and Old Bridge, New Jersey. 

Ocean Orthopedic Associates encompasses a team of talented, highly trained orthopedic surgeons and staff dedicated to serving Ocean, Monmouth, and Middlesex counties. They specialize in sports medicine, total joint replacement, spine surgery, pain management, and adult reconstruction surgery. Their goal is to provide a comprehensive team approach in order to offer patients a continuum of care from general orthopedics and fracture care to highly specialized spine and joint reconstruction.

Among his professional experience, Dr. Dhawlikar is also affiliated with several establishments in the New Jersey area, including Community Medical Center, Ocean Medical Center, Raritan Bay Medical Center, Metropolitan Surgical Institute, Physicians’ SurgiCenter, and Surgical Institute of Neptune. 

A Fellow of the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons (FAAOS), he is board-certified in orthopedic surgery by the American Board of Orthopedic Surgery (ABOS). The ABOS is an organization with the goal of establishing educational and professional standards for orthopedic residents and surgeons, as well as evaluating the qualifications and competence of orthopedic surgeons. 

On the subject of his educational background, Dr. Dhawlikar earned his medical degree from Gandhi Medical College in Hyderabad, India in 1985. Upon relocating to the United States, he went on to complete his internship and residency at the State University of New York at Buffalo. Thereafter, he completed his fellowship in spine surgery at the Hospital for Special Surgery, followed by his fellowship in pediatric orthopedics at the same educational venue. He completed an additional fellowship at the State University of New York at Buffalo.

To further enhance his professional development, the doctor is an esteemed member of several elite organizations, including the North American Spine Society, the American Medical Association, and the American Association of Physicians of Indian Origin. 

Orthopedic surgery or orthopedics is the branch of surgery concerned with conditions involving the musculoskeletal system. Orthopedic surgeons use both surgical and nonsurgical means to treat musculoskeletal trauma, spine diseases, sports injuries, degenerative diseases, infections, tumors, and congenital disorders. 

Married with two children, Dr. Dhawlikar enjoys running marathons, spending time with his family, traveling, and reading when he is not working.
