Get to know Physiatrist Dr. Marla Y. Molinary-Ruiz, who serves patients in Humacao, Puerto Rico.

A committed physiatrist, Dr. Molinary-Ruiz is in practice at HIMA San Pablo Humacao Hospital.

The main mission of HIMA San Pablo Hospitals is to develop the most advanced services and acquire the necessary technology, together with a medical faculty prepared with the most advanced knowledge in the practice of medicine, in order to be able to offer, at an optimal cost, the best medicine available to cure most of the conditions that affect the health of Puerto Rico and the Caribbean.

Pertaining to her educational pursuits, Dr. Molinary-Ruiz graduated with her medical degree from the University of Puerto Rico School of Medicine in 2000. She completed her residency in physical medicine and rehabilitation at the VA Caribbean Healthcare System in 2004.

An active member of the American Academy of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, the doctor is board-certified in physical medicine & rehabilitation and sports medicine by the American Board of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation (ABPMR). The mission of the ABPMR is to serve the public by improving the quality of patient care in physical medicine and rehabilitation (PM&R). This is accomplished through a process of certification and maintenance of certification that fosters excellence and encourages continuous learning.

Physical medicine and rehabilitation, also known as physiatry, is a branch of medicine that aims to enhance and restore functional ability and quality of life to those with physical impairments or disabilities. Physiatrists treat a wide variety of medical conditions affecting the brain, spinal cord, nerves, bones, joints, ligaments, muscles, and tendons.
