Get to know Obstetrician-Gynecologist Dr. Christopher A. Sullivan, who serves patients in Arizona. 

Dr. Sullivan is a board-certified obstetrician-gynecologist specializing in maternal-fetal medicine. His areas of interest include preterm labor, fetal imaging, multiple pregnancies, and the management of hypertension and diabetes during pregnancy.

In practice with Genesis OBGYN, he works along with a woman’s obstetrician when his expertise in managing pregnancy-related complications is required. He believes his patients would describe him as calm, warm, and caring. With open communication and trust, he strives to do the right thing every day for each individual patient. 

With offices in Arizona, Genesis OB/GYN is a family of individual women’s health practices. As a single organization, its caring, board-certified physicians and experienced nurse practitioners share insights and expertise to develop individualized medical solutions for their patients. They focus on providing personalized care during pregnancy and throughout the stages of a woman’s life.

In addition to his clinical practice, he has medical privileges at TMC Healthcare – Tucson, Oro Valley Hospital, Banner University Medical Center, Tucson, and Northwest Medical Center – Tucson.

His high school biology teacher’s lessons on the inner-workings of the human body sparked Dr. Sullivan’s interest in practicing medicine. Nature’s mechanistic simplicity is a lesson that still resonates with him today.  

Graduating with honors from Union College with a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology, he earned his medical degree from Albany Medical College. He then went on to complete his residency in obstetrics and gynecology at St. Barnabas Medical Center, and his fellowship in maternal-fetal medicine at the University of Mississippi Medical Center.

A Fellow of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (FACOG), he is board-certified in obstetrics and gynecology by the American Board of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (ABOG). The mission of the ABOG is to define specialty standards, certify obstetricians and gynecologists, and facilitate continuous learning to advance knowledge, practice, and professionalism in women’s health.

In good standing with a number of professional organizations, Dr. Sullivan is a proud member of the Society of Maternal-Fetal Medicine, the Sigma Xi Scientific Research Society, the American Institute of Ultrasound in Medicine, and the American Medical Association.

He has authored numerous journal articles and book chapters on these and other subjects throughout his career.

Obstetrics and gynecology (OB-GYN) is the medical specialty that encompasses the two subspecialties of obstetrics (covering pregnancy, childbirth, and the postpartum period) and gynecology (covering the health of the female reproductive system – vagina, uterus, ovaries, and breasts).

Outside of the office, Dr. Sullivan enjoys hiking, reading, as well as playing baseball and football. He is happily married and has three daughters, Sarah, Anna, and Margaux. He enjoys spending time with his wife, Danielle, with his children and with his dogs, Penny, Gracie, Sandy and Bailey.
