Dr. Ronald Morton is an Otolaryngologist, practicing in Longview, TX. Dr. Morton specializes in diseases and disorders of the ear, nose and throat, and for the last 14 years has primarily treating disorders of the sinuses and inner ear. He has been in private pratice for 33 years. Because of his focus on sinus disease, he has been recognized as a National Center for Excellence in the Treatment of Sinus Disease since 2014, East Texas' only doctor with such recognition. He teaches and trains other Otolatyngologists from around the country in his office as well and going on site to work with them in their facilitie to assist them in mastering the techniques used in sinus treatment. He has directed training laboratories around the country involving balloon sinus dilation, Eustachian Tube Dilation, and the use of advanced image guided techniques for various sinus procedures. He is currently a national consultant with Stryker, ENT.

He is a past President of the Texas Association of Otolaryngology in 2005-2006, having served on its Board of Directors from 2004-2013. 

Dr. Morton and his wife Carolyn have been married for 38 years and are the proud parents of 9 children and grandparents of 5 grandchildren.

  • Can infant ear infections cause hearing damage?

    Yes they can. While the loss is usually related to the fluid in the ear with infections, on occasion it can affect the hearing organ in the ear called the cochlea. This should be seen and have appropriate testing, called an ABR if you child is very young. READ MORE

    This needs to be looked at. While it is most likley a benign spot made of of blood vessels, more serious things can occur, so get this looked at. READ MORE

  • I have ear pain?

    Not only should your ear be loked at, but your throat as wewll. A condition called referred otalgia occurs when the throat is irritated and the sensory nerves in this area that pass through the ear, are affected and the pain radiates to the ear, similat to back pain radiating down the leg.   • Vein next to my ear?

    It is most likely a branch of the external carotid artery system. If it is not painful or usually occurs with exercise, it is likley normal. However it should be seen to be sure. READ MORE

  • Throat and nose issues?

    Could be a combination of things. The nasal stuffiness may lead to mouth breathing, especially at night, causing a dry throat. The other likely cause if reflux disease, specifically laryngo-pharyngeal reflux, causing inflammation around the larynx (voice box), causing throat clearing. Both of these need to be assessed.   • Can I use estrogen drops or cream in my nose?

    I would not due to the potential effects of estrogen on mucosa and blood vessels, causing them to dilate and further congest your nose and possible cause nose bleeds. READ MORE

  • Ringing in ears?

    Pain is not normally associated with tinnitus. At your age, be sure to protect your ears from excessive noise. If the pain is associated with sound, a condition called hyperacusis may exist. You will a hearing test. Do not avoid noise with this condition, but put yourself in an environment with "normal noise". Sound avoidance increases hyperacusis. READ MORE

  • Acid reflux?

    Make sure you have the fever checked because this is not associated with reflux. If antacids don't help, get famotidine, an over the counter H2-blocker and take this twice daily. If there is no help with this, see your doctor. You may need more aggressive medical therapy and possibly a need to see a gastroenterologist. READ MORE

A highly respected otolaryngologist, Dr. Morton works with patients at the East Texas Sinus and Dizziness Center in Longview, Texas.

Known initially by many as the “dizzy doctor”, and now the “sinus doctor”, Dr. Morton has the most complete state-of-the-art facilities in the area for the evaluation and treatment of all forms of sinusitis and dizziness. His commitment to providing the highest quality care to his patients is evident in his work, and he remains passionate about the future of his profession.

Born in South Texas and raised as the youngest of four children, Dr. Morton was raised in a family that placed a high value on service and devotion, which led him to pursue a career in medicine. After completing his medical school training at UTMB in Galveston in 1985, where he was honored as “Who’s Who in Medical Professionals” and on the National Dean’s list for academic excellence, he completed his general surgical internship in 1986 and his residency in otolaryngology/head and neck surgery in 1990. At UTMB-Galveston, he trained under Byron J. Bailey, MD, FACS, one of the most respected specialists in the country.

In 1990, Dr. Morton began practicing in Paris, Texas until he moved to Longview in 1997. While caring for all disorders of the ear, nose, and throat, his practice is most clearly recognized for its excellence in the care of sinus and inner ear disorders. It has also been recognized as a National Center of Excellence for the treatment of sinusitis and the performance of Balloon Sinus Dilation, the only such center in East Texas. He was informed of this honor just before attending the National Open Forum in New York City in July 2014, and has maintained that designation ever since. 

Dr. Morton and his staff not only perform this procedure regularly in their offices but have been asked to consult with outside physicians to assist in their learning the latest techniques in the treatment of sinusitis. He has carried out live broadcast satellite TV cases to educate other doctors throughout the country. They also train doctors from around the country who come to his office to be trained in these latest techniques, which is one of Dr. Morton’s most fulfilling aspects of his practice.

With a solid background, Dr. Morton is a Diplomate of the American Board of Otolaryngology, a Fellow of the American Academy of Otolaryngology/Head and Neck Surgery, a member of the Texas Medical Association, and a member of the Gregg/Upshur County Medical Society. 

In addition, he belongs to the Texas Association of Otolaryngology, where he served on the Board of Directors from 2004-2012 and was President from 2006-2007.

Staying at the forefront of technology and advancements in his field, Dr. Morton serves as a consultant for Stryker ENT, formerly Entellus Medical, a leading sinus surgical company.

Among his various accolades, Dr. Morton has been the recipient of the Patients’ Choice Award (2018, 2017, 2015), Compassionate Doctor Recognition (2017), and On-Time Doctor Award (2018, 2017), and Top Doctor (2022). He has also lectured the area emergency physicians on the emergent evaluation of the dizzy patient and stands on call to assist them each day with the treatment of these patients. He has also served as guest lecturer for pre-med and therapy/allied health students at LeTourneau University in Longview, Texas.

Aside from his professional achievements, Dr. Morton is a proud husband, father, and grandfather. He and his wife Carolyn have been married for nearly four decades and have raised nine children of their own, and love the role of grandparents to four grandchildren with a fifth expected in July, 2023. They are proud to call Longview their home.
