A highly trained gastroenterologist, Dr. Levy is a Clinical Associate in Medicine at the University of Chicago and designs national colon cancer prevention programs. Previously, Dr. Levy served as the Division Head of Gastroenterology at the Mount Sinai Hospital in Chicago, Illinois and as a COVID-19 Ambassador for the Illinois Department of Public Health.
With a passion for public health and cancer prevention, Dr. Levy III specializes in diagnosing and treating a wide range of digestive disease/gastrointestinal tract conditions. His practice primarily focuses on colon cancer screening and prevention, abdominal pain, Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD), and Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease (GERD).
Graduating with his Bachelor of Arts Degree in Music and a minor in Biology from the University of Virginia, Dr. Levy III went on to earn his Medical Degree from the Emory University School of Medicine in 2008. He completed his residency at the University of Arizona College of Medicine – Tucson in 2011, and his fellowship in gastroenterology at the Louisiana State University Health Science Center New Orleans in 2014.
In 2017, Dr. Levy III founded a gastroenterology clinic for refugees resettling in Chicago. Subsequently, he was selected to complete the Emerging Leaders Program at the Chicago Council on Global Affairs and the American College of Gastroenterology’s Young Physician Leadership Scholars Program in 2018.
In pursuit of clinical excellence, the doctor is board certified in both gastroenterology and internal medicine by the American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM). The ABIM is a physician-led, non-profit, independent evaluation organization driven by doctors who want to achieve higher standards for better care in a rapidly changing world.
Holding membership status, Dr. Levy III is an active member of the FDA Related Matters Committee, the PR Committee, and the Credentials Committe for the American College of Gastroenterology.
For his public health education efforts, Dr. Levy III was awarded Gambit Magazine’s Top 40 Under 40 in New Orleans (2013). He also holds the Health Care Education Association’s “Outstanding Research Award” (2007) and a CDC Outstanding New Researcher Award through the National HIV Prevention Conference (2009).
