  • Is yoga recommended to treat sciatica?

I’m not sure yoga is a “treatment” recommendation, I’m sure the stretching is helpful. Medications only mask the pain and possibly decrease inflammation temporarily. I would recommend having an evaluation that includes an X-ray to determine the cause for the sciatica. A pinched nerve from vertebral misalignment or degenerative disc could respond well to Chiropractic and possibly decompression ! READ MORE

  • Is there a treatment for degenerative disc disease?

In the Chiropractic office DDD is often treated with decompression and adjustments. Some 80 year olds tolerate decompression well, others are too frail. Nutritional supplements like papain and bromelain are also helpful in providing the necessary ingredients to help rehydrate the disc. It is the alignment of the vertebrae that affects wear and tear on the disc, so addressing the alignment can prevent disc issues, or prevent progression of the degeneration. READ MORE

  • My son suffers from ADHD. Should I bring him to a chiropractor?

Chiropractic works with the nervous system, (which is housed in the skull and the spinal column,) and controls and coordinates all body functions. Chiropractic removes fixations in the vertebra that affect the nerves that exit each level of the spine. Although chiropractors don’t “treat” ADHD, they treat the spine and remove interference to restore proper nervous system functioning. I have seen many children with ADHD that have misalignments in their spine, and once corrected their ADHD symptoms improved. There are other factors that can play into ADHD, and it’s good to have a wholistic approach and consider other factors such as diet, neurosensorymotor issues etc. I believe it’s beneficial for all children to have a chiropractic evaluation. Many have been doing competitive sports, tumbling or dance since a young age, which can cause lots of repetitive stress on the spine and joints. Trampolines, roller skating and general falls can all affect spinal alignment. Our nervous system is our most valuable resource , so we have to take proper care of our spines!! READ MORE

  • How does spinal manipulation work?

I personally do not like the term “manipulation,” but chiropractors perform adjustments on areas of the spine that are fixated due to subluxations, or misaligned vertebra. Since the nerves that branch from the brain and spinal cord go to every part of the body, and they are housed in the spine, misalignments can affect the nervous systems ability to function properly. For instance, misalignments in the low back could cause the bowels not to function properly, resulting in constipation or even diarrhea. In the same way, misalignments in the neck can cause headaches or sinus issues. True chiropractic isn’t just about treating pain, but more about ensuring that the body can function properly! I encourage you to get a chiropractic evaluation to see what benefits you can derive from it! READ MORE

  • I feel my posture has bent after delivery. What can I do?

The added stress of your pregnancy could have caused or exacerbated spinal issues. It isn’t normal not to be able to sit up straight without pain. I would recommend you get evaluated by a chiropractor to determine the cause for your pain and then you will know how to fix it!! Stretching is always good, but that won’t correct spinal misalignments. Good luck to you! Blessings, Lynnette Hendrickson, D.C., CACCP READ MORE

  • I am having pain around my hamstrings. Can I see a chiropractor for this?

  • How is back soreness treated?

Back soreness is a sign that there is an issue that needs to be addressed. It could be a variety of things, but most likely your muscles are responding to stress on your spine. To properly treat it, you need to be examined to find out the cause of your pain. You could have spinal misalignments, or subluxations that need correction. Often, physical therapy modalities like electrical muscle stim can be used to relax tight muscles and decrease pain. Massage is also beneficial, as are stretching and strengthening exercises for your spine and core muscles. READ MORE
