Long Beach, California – Nilesh L. Vora, MD, a board certified hematologist and medical oncologist, has taken the helm as the Medical Director of the MemorialCare Todd Cancer Institute at Long Beach Medical Center. With a commitment to excellence, Dr. Vora leads a dedicated team of nationally recognized physicians, nurses, and support staff, providing advanced cancer care to nearly 1,800 newly diagnosed patients each year. His approach is deeply rooted in palliative care, recognizing that cancer affects not just the body, but the mind and spirit as well.
Dr. Vora’s expertise spans a variety of cancer types, with a specialized focus on lung cancer, gastrointestinal cancers—including colorectal, pancreatic, and gastric—and malignant hematology disorders. His affiliations with Long Beach Medical Center, MemorialCare Medical Group, Miller Children’s & Women’s Hospital Long Beach, and Greater Newport Physicians MemorialCare enhance the collaborative approach to patient care.
A 2004 graduate of the Keck School of Medicine of the University of Southern California in 2004, Dr. Vora completed his residency in internal medicine at Harbor - UCLA Medical Center, followed by a fellowship in hematology and medical oncology at The City of Hope National Medical Center in 2007 and 2010, respectively. He holds board certifications in hematology/oncology and hospice/palliative medicine, allowing him to address the comprehensive needs of cancer patients.
Alongside his clinical responsibilities, Dr. Vora is at the forefront of clinical trial offerings at the MemorialCare Todd Cancer Institute, ensuring patients have access to the latest treatments. He also serves as the Chair of Hematology and Medical Oncology for the MemorialCare Medical Foundation, cancer liaison physician for the American College of Surgeons, and is an active member of the American College of Physicians, the American Society of Clinical Oncology, and the American Society of Hematology.
Recognized as a Top Los Angeles Doctor by the Los Angeles Business Journal in 2022, Dr. Vora is passionate about enhancing cancer care across the MemorialCare health system. “It’s my goal to lift our entire program to the level of elite cancer care in our region,” he states.
