Interventional Pain Specialists of Southwest Florida focuses on a multidisciplinary approach to pain management in order to effectively minimize pain and restore function. Originally from Indianapolis, Dr. Patel earned his medical degree from Ross University School of Medicine in Miramar, Florida in 2006. He then went on to complete his residency in physical medicine and rehabilitation at the Medical College of Wisconsin, followed by his fellowship in pain medicine at the National Pain Institute in Winter Park, Florida. 

Additionally, he earned board certification in physical medicine & rehabilitation by the American Board of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation (ABPMR). The ABPMR was established in 1947 as the certifying body for the field of physical medicine and rehabilitation under the American Board of Medical Specialties. The board certifies both allopathic and osteopathic physicians.

Pain medicine, pain management, pain control or algiatry, is a branch of medicine employing an interdisciplinary approach for easing the suffering and improving the quality of life of those living with chronic pain. “My approach to treating pain is multidisciplinary, including physical rehabilitation, injections, pain psychology, and medications. This approach allows patients to have better control over their pain and more importantly, enables patients to get back to their normal functional and activity levels,” as stated by Dr. Patel.
