She then relocated to the United States where she completed her general surgery residency at Nassau County Medical Center where she was named Chief Resident. She is certified by the American Board of Surgery, and to stay up to date in her field she remains a professional member of the , Association of Women Surgeons, and the American Board of Surgery, and a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons. Dr. Laclaustra currently practices with 21st Century Oncology/Florida Breast Care and is affiliated with Good Samaritan Medical Center, Wellington Regional Medical Center, and Jupiter Medical Center. She holds an expertise in breast surgery. She runs a non-profit room for the underserved, underprivileged and uninsured.
