Hi there, right after any oral surgery avoid hot drinks or soups. High temperature might cause bleeding and swelling. So make sure you drink cold beverages like ice cream, yogurt, soft drinks, smoothies and shakes. No alcohol. READ MORE

How are permanent dentures attached to implants?
Hello. There are two different ways to combine implants and dentures. One is a device called overdenture which is attached to the implants by a snap-on fashion connection. This overdenture is removable, I mean, you can remove it from the mouth for cleaning and maintenance. The other form is called Hybrids or fixed implant supported dentures which are carefully screwed or cemented to the implants by fix attachments or what we call multisystem in implant dentistry. Can a crown's damage be fixed?
Hello there. Porcelain crowns are milled from a porcelain block, then painted to apply color or selected shade, then set on special oven to cure or provide strength and durability. When these crowns fracture there is no way to fix them back, you will need a new one. Toothache when flying and having a cold
Hi there, lets talk hypothetically here because I don't have any reference right now. Having a cold or flying might cause some discomfort in the sinuses. Sinuses are empty or air filled cavities in our heads that get clogged when there is cold or upper respiratory infection as well as depressurize when flying due to atmospheric changes when in a airship. My dear, never is too late to do anything including your teeth. But like other treatments, not always we are good candidates to undergo some procedures. When moving teeth, your dentist must be aware of the state of your teeth in general including supporting tissues (gums, bone for example) as well as overall health. Pain is never normal and is also a warning that something is wrong. The good news is that most of the time when a patient experiences pain due to dentures is because either way the denture is not fitting properly or there is a pressure point that need to be relieved. If appliance is ill and old, then you should ask your doctor for a new one. If it was recently delivered, then pressure areas must be relieved to avoid painful ulcer-like lesions. On the other hand, there are other situations where the use of dentures might cause discomfort or burning sensation. In this case, an underlying existing condition might trigger this event or the medications to treat them. Some syndromes that affect salivary glands might cause dry mouth or Xerostomy as well as the treatment for some conditions like depression or hight blood pressure. Can gum recession around a crown be fixed?
My dear, gum recession is an unwanted event that can be very distressful. When a crown is present, it might also present an esthetic concern for the patient due to exposure of crown margins. Some dentists cover that deficiency with filling materials but this will only add to the problem and worsens the recession. Crowns are made of porcelain and other materials that are not compatible with filling composites. This will create an interphase that will provide bacteria an excellent area to grow. In this case, the best option would be a new crown if recession is visible to protect area and enhance esthetics. I hope you feel better and this situation did not escalate. Infections are always a big concern. Augmenting a a very strong antibiotic and it should help. The body response to infections are enhance with the use of antibiotics. But this might take some time and it differs from patient to patient. The most important thing is when and how to recognize that the antibiotic is not fighting the infection. The are to mayor complications and life threatening conditions that have to be taken seriously, both of them associated with tooth infection. One is Cavernous Sinus abscess and the other is Ludwig's Angina. The first is and infection spread to the brain and the second to the the neck. In both cases, it's important when to recognize that infection is not resolving but getting worse. Upper teeth infections will progress fast and if not resolve in the next 24 hours, then it will cause swelling around the eye (orbital edema), this might preclude the infection is about to spread to the brain. Lower teeth infections are more prone to move downward and if uncontrolled, they will cause a swelling around the neck shocking the glottis suffocating the patient to die. This event is precluded by an elevation of the floor of the mouth pushing the tongue to the palate. In any of these two situations do not hesitate and waste your time calling your doctor and go straight to the ER. This decision will safe your life. Every restoration in your mouth depends on the way it was planned, the executor and yourself. Gums receding after veneers
Hi there. Brown lines mean root exposure. Remember, enamel is part of the crown of the tooth, not the root. So when you have gum recession what you are showing is the root of the tooth. It can be fixed with new veneers because gum recession is a non reversible event. There are a few surgical procedures to enhance gum in the esthetic zone but in my humble experience I would not recommend them. on the other hand, you might avoid this from getting worse by using soft cell brushes and creamy tooth paste (never use grainy toothpaste). Aggressive toothpaste that patient use to polish teeth surfaces are very erosive and cause gum trauma. Last but not least, use a massage-like motion from the gum to the tooth in one movement fashion so you treat your gum gentle. Believe me, your gums will thank you. READ MORE

While working as an associate in South Florida, Dr. Quesada realized that a majority of his patients could not afford dental treatment either because of lack of insurance coverage, economical restraints or due to poor comprehensive dental education. These were strong reasons to master the overall skills in general dentistry and cover a broad span of practice in all specialties.
